The Normans

Discover Wells-next-the-Sea

The Normans is a sanctuary of calm, just two minutes from the bustling harbour front of Wells-next-the-Sea.
The town features a maze of narrow streets, old alleys, and yards. The main street leads to the sea and is filled with fantastic shops, pubs, and cafes, as well as a museum and theatre.
A 20 minute stroll from our holiday homes in Wells (or a ride on the Wonder Bus shuttle,) takes you to one of the top sandy beaches in the country, flanked by an impressive line-up of brightly painted beach huts and pine trees. This hidden gem is one of the best-kept secrets in the country—ssh, tell no one!

Wells-next-the-sea is a kids heaven with the beach, ice cream parlours,
a couple of small amusement arcades, playground and crabbing all on your doorstep.
Great in all weathers, park at the far end of the car park and head in to Wells woods behind the beach to build a camp and picnic and then find the rope swing which hangs over a huge sand bank.
However if you are looking for other things to keep your little and not so little people busy take a look at the list below:
Head to Holkham for a host of things to do including cycle hire, woodland play area and rope course. Dine at the cafe or picnic in the deer park alongside the lake which has boating in summer months. www.holkham.co.uk
Take a boat trip to see the Seals in their natural environment basking on Blakeney Point. (If you are really lucky you might even bump into some at the waters edge on Wells beach.) www.sealtrips.co.uk
Master the art of crabbing on Wells Quay! www.wellsguide.com/things-to-do-in-wells-next-the-sea/crabbing/
Top tip: Take your swag of crabs down to the causeway on East Quay to release and watch them race away.
